Todd Park Cairns

Todd Park is a council green space in South Cairns targeted at youth. This park has a skate park, BMX facilities, a basketball court and is very popular with local young people. It has a total usable area of 14,198sqm.

The park is very popular with young people in the area. With children’s play equipment, a basketball court, skate facilities and a rectangular playing field, it really is a hit with the kids. In addition there is a BMX track for those who want to have fun on two wheels.

Rather than the shade sails which cover many playgrounds in the area, this park has a large shed built over the most popular equipment. This provides protection from rain and the sun’s harmful rays. This is especially important to protect the young ones using the children’s play equipment.

This venue has something for young people of different ages and interests.

Other Facilities

Other facilities at the park include a bubbler and rubbish bin. A council spokesperson said, “The park is on the list to receive a public toilet, but don’t expect one any day soon, as it is a long list.”

Transport to Todd Park

There is a carpark area for a number of vehicles. Robert Road is also well serviced by buses, with an expanding network of footpaths and cycleways. There is a bus shelter directly adjacent to the park.

Local pathways connect to the Cairns Southern Access Cycleway for those wanting to take longer journeys. All this makes this venue highly accessible.

Todd Park and Local History

The original Aboriginal inhabitants of the land, the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji people are the Traditional Owners of this area.

Todd is the name of a local pioneering family who farmed land in Mount Sheridan for decades and made significant contributions to the local community in a wide range of community service roles.
